The Wisconsin Raw Milk Association is a grassroots group of farmers and consumers committed to changing the raw milk laws in Wisconsin.   The  WRMA is presently working to pass a law legalizing the sale of raw milk and raw milk products, while ensuring a safe supply.  Current law only allows the on-farm sale of raw milk on an incidental basis. Wisconsin state regulation defines "incidental" as not being in the "regular course of business."

"Let Them Eat Grass" is an upcoming documentary on raw milk in Wisconsin due to be released in 2012. Thanks to Dr. K and all the other people who participated in the filming.
The Wisconsin Raw Milk Association is a small grassroots group of farmers and consumers committed to changing the raw milk laws in Wisconsin.   The WRMA is presently working to pass a law legalizing the sale of raw milk and raw milk products, while ensuring a safe supply. As civilized, mature, raw milk consumers we know how fragile our freedoms really are. Our farmers are taking a BIG risk selling us milk; some are even facing prison time, they are being watched by DATCP, maybe the FDA, or even Organic Valley. Farm raids by armed agents are very real – we know this. Your farmer, you, me, all of us, our families, we could all be under surveillance. Do not take this as paranoia it is the real world of today. The farmers may be on the front lines but make no mistake; everyone’s freedom is on the line. In California recently the LA County health department has unleashed door-to-door raw milk confiscation teams to threaten and intimidate raw dairy customers into surrendering raw milk products they
legally purchased and own.
The Wisconsin Raw Milk Association is actively negotiating to get legislation introduced and passed that would legalize on farm sales of raw milk. This would not only make on farm sales legal but would also further protect private food clubs. There are only a hand full of producers, a small number of consumers and one lobbyist doing this work. The opposition has many lobbyists and financial supporters, a well-developed marketing campaign, an
apathetic public, DATCP, public health professionals and the despotic federal agencies. The Wisconsin Raw Milk Association is painstakingly moving through the mine field of Wisconsin politics and the legislative process; the WRMA is focused on passing legislation that ensures on farm access to raw milk for all of us. But the WRMA could easily hit a wall if we the consumers of raw milk don’t contribute time, resources and/or money to the effort. This includes consumers from out of state who’s raw  milk and raw dairy products comes from Wisconsin. The next time you raise your glass, remember that raw milk really is the taste of freedom, and you’re going to have to fight to keep it.
Thank you for supporting the efforts of the Wisconsin Raw Milk Association to get legislation passed to make on farm sales of raw milk and raw dairy products legal in Wisconsin.

Our great state of Wisconsin has a golden opportunity to save the family dairy farm, create a new robust economy during the toughest times seen since the "Great Depression", and actually live up to our state motto, "Forward". It was the hard work of the greatest dairymen the world had ever known that put Wisconsin on the map, and these proud dairymen earned the title of "America's Dairyland" for Wisconsin by producing some of the worlds finest dairy products. These generational ancestor's of proud Wisconsin dairymen can lead Wisconsin out of some very dark economic times if only given a chance and that would be with the decriminalization of raw milk.
Today a demand has grown in the marketplace for a truly artisanal glass of fresh milk. "Something Special from Wisconsin". Maybe we could compare this to the birth of all the micro-brewery's we have witnessed in Wisconsin. Why? Because people from Wisconsin love their beer. Wisconsin is know for our world class cheeses. We love our cheese here and the best cheese starts with the best milk, from the best pastures, combined with the talents of the hard working artisanal cheese makers. Well, we also love our milk in Wisconsin. We want to truly enjoy the fruits of the dairyman's labor, and finally after all the many years of farms going by the wayside you have the ability to stop this disaster we in Wisconsin have been witnessing in the demise of the family farm. Imagine new dairy farm's sprouting up across the landscape, imagine young couples wanting to farm and raise their families in Wisconsin, imagine thriving local economies, imagine Wisconsin moving "Forward".
Real food, real milk, real butter, and real hard work, but most importantly are the memories of family being together. Needless to say many families dairy farms have all gone by the wayside. Our families are not what they were back then either. Just stop and think for a minute about what Wisconsin was for us who grew up here. We want our heritage back. We want to have a state that is Wisconsin, "America's Dairyland".

What it comes down to...

If people let the government decide what foods and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny.
Thomas Jefferson

Our founding fathers knew it. Even our grandfathers knew it! But somehow we've lost that sense of ownership on our very lives and allowed the government to regulate everything imaginable. Even our food. To make a product illegal because it hurts people and causes damage or harm is one thing, but taking a food that has nourished mankind for countless eons and making it illegal to consume is beyond reason. Even other developed countries have not outlawed raw milk consumption; many embrace it. Some states have allowed for raw milk sales, but even then the regulations are often overbearing and burdensome for the people producing the milk.

This issue is not about safety. No, if it were, why then would farmers be allowed to drink the very milk that is touted to make others so sick they could die? Furthermore, we all know the legality of cigarettes which are proven to cause cancer and a wide range of other health problems.

No, this fight is all about CHOICE. Do we as individuals in a free nation have the right to choose the food we want to consume?
That is what we fight for here. A simple freedom that Thomas Jefferson never for saw the need to write into the Constitution. How could he? Raw milk was all he and his countrymen knew. Let's hope that if we work together, raw milk for those who choose it, is all their children will ever know as well.

“They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” Benjamin Franklin.
